Preventing Abuse

Protect Their Innocence Campaign

Child Sexual Abuse Prevention:

Extending the Reach Across Your Community

We are all called to protect the children in our care but many of us are also called by God to care for children in an expanded portion of God's Kingdom. This may be true for individuals and it is certainly true that God calls our churches corporately to be leaders in the community. The Protect Their Innocence Campaign is a packaged outreach program making it easier for individuals and churches to get others in their community engaged in the protection of our children.

The campaign objectives are to:

  1. Garner support from community leaders who see your vision for protecting the innocence of children.
  2. Secure funding to provide our Founder's book, 8 Ways to Create their Fate, to every youth-serving organization in your community.
  3. Ask organization leaders to learn and adopt child sexual abuse prevention best practices and educate staff, volunteers, and parents.
  4. Create opportunities for organization leaders to learn from each other by sharing their successes and challenges in protecting children.
  5. Engage parents in holding organizations accountable for the protection of the children in their care.

Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse

Church leaders, especially those who lead youth and children's ministries, have a responsibility to protect the children in their care whether it is in weekly programs, at special events, or even children your team encounters in the missions field. I believe most people want to do the right thing to prevent child sexual abuse but they honestly don't know where to begin. God called me to write a book that combines the knowledge of leading researchers, treatment professionals, and those impacted by abuse into a step-by-step, easy to implement guide on how to prevent child sexual abuse, specifically in youth-serving organizations.

With over 42 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse in America, we know how it happens and therefore, we know how to prevent it. This book and the prevention program it details, is not specific to the Christian faith but applicable to all faiths and secular organizations. The protection of our children is universal.

If you are directly responsible for or oversee a team that serves youth, this book is a must read. The actions it calls forth will allow you to walk in sync with God's will to keep his children from harm.

8 Ways to Create their Fate Protecting the Sexual Innocence of Children in Youth-Serving Organizations Are the children in your care being sexually abused?

Ten percent of students surveyed say they were abused at school – that is nearly 4.5 million U.S. students. That number doesn't begin to address the children who were abused in day care centers, boys and girls clubs, faith organizations, sports programs, and other youth-serving organizations. Child molesters need access in order to abuse and what better way to gain it than to work for an organization that serves youth?

As a youth-serving organization leader, staff member, or parent, this book will guide you to create an environment where child molesters virtually cannot succeed without being caught and therefore won't want to work. We all play a part in the solution and these pages provide step-by-step instructions on your part. Are you ready to get started?

Preventing Child Sexual Abuse is Paramount to God's Plan

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

The truth of God's word says that harm is not part of his plan for us. He doesn't say it won't happen, because we do live in a fallen world, but he clearly says that it is not in his will. As Christians we are called to walk in the truth of God's word and align ourselves with the will of God. Therefore, we are called to do everything in our power to prevent children from being sexually abused.
