Hon. DeAnn M. Salcido (Ret.) |
In May 2010 DeAnn Salcido was the FIRST AND ONLY Judge to sue her own court for its failure to follow MANDATORY laws designed to protect victims of Domestic Violence, which comprise mostly women and children. Under pressure to resign or be fired, she retired in November 2010, as her working environment was hostile and not receptive to criticism by "one of its own". Sadly, her decision to speak out against the court was a culmination of years of watching the court disregard victims of crimes or other forms of abuse, often by loved ones. She too was guilty of making a horrible mistake on what has become known as the "Joyce Murphy case". Be that as it may, it has been a blessing in disguise. She is free now to speak the truth.

Nancy B. Irwin, PsyD |
A former stand-up comic, Nancy Irwin, PsyD, experienced an epiphany when she began volunteering for a shelter for sexually abused children. It not only woke up the healer in her, but also allowed her to embark on her own path of healing from adolescent sexual abuse at the hands of a clergyman. This prompted her to pursue a doctorate in psychology and to specialize in the prevention and healing of child sexual abuse. It is Dr. Irwin’s belief that “The best way to help the abused is to help the abusers.” |

Breaking the Cycle Breaking the Cycle lays out one of the most powerful approaches to overcoming the impact of childhood trauma that I’ve ever seen. Dr. Riggin’s unique method includes an analytical approach to emotional healing that makes it a valuable tool for any survivor but is especially useful for those who struggle to connect with their emotions. The easy to follow step-by-step format can be used by individuals or as a workbook for support groups. Truly a gift to the world!
This interview was recorded in September 2011 just weeks before Dr. Sandra Riggin passed away. Join us as we take an in-depth look into Sandy's revised book, Breaking the Cycle. She worked tirelessly in her final weeks to complete the book so she could leave it with us as her parting gift. We miss you and love you Sandy!
