Board of Directors Diane Cranley - President and Chairman of the Board Svava Brooks - Vice President Sarah Flatley - Treasurer Anna Bryson Ryan Burris Cindy Smith Robyn Seymour Diane Cranley - President and Chairman of the Board Diane is the founder of TAALK and was selected as a Director, President and CEO because of her personal commitment to the cause as well as her extensive business experience. In 2007, Diane discovered through her daughters’ own courageous testimony that they were victims of sexual abuse. This began her own confrontation of personal abuse over 33 years before, and the mission to touch the lives of past victims, and to save the lives of potential future victims of abuse. Diane's twenty-year career in sales provided her an opportunity to work with high level executives across the country developing solutions to align with their strategic business initiatives. Her love for public speaking and business development are invaluable and contribute to the success of the organization.
Svava Brooks - Vice PresidentSvava is the co-founder of Blátt áfram which is an organization founded in 2004 and dedicated to preventing and educating Icelanders about child sexual abuse. The organization has successfully raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and created a variety of sexual abuse prevention programs, both utilizing and working with other organizations such as Darkness to Light in South Carolina and Kids on the Block in Washington, DC, as well as creating her own prevention training/talks that target adults and teenagers. She has presented these programs to thousands of adults and teenagers in schools and private organizations. She is considered an expert on the issue of child sexual abuse in Iceland and in cooperation with the Child Protection Agency of Iceland, annually since 2006, has served as organizer of a conference called Beyond the Blame: Focus on healing, education and prevention! Prevention the best way! Svava led the organization in Iceland using a similar strategy to TAALK’s. This program has proven to be very successful and the organization has been accepted in Iceland as a leading authority on the issue. She joined TAALK in 2009 and brings with her a wealth of experience and a desire to see change in the United States. Born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland, Svava is currently living in San Diego, CA with her husband and children. Svava's past experience in establishing and marketing a comprehensive child sexual abuse awareness and prevention program is extraordinarily valuable as we continue to expand our reach.
Sarah Flatley - Treasurer
Sarah was selected as a Director and Treasurer because of her extensive experience in finance and accounting as well as her network within wealthy circles in California. Sarah is a licensed CPA who began her career at KPMG and later served in finance management at several small and large companies in the areas of healthcare and entertainment. These included Syntex Pharmaceuticals, Molecular Dynamics, Catapult Entertainment and, most recently, she served as Vice President of Finance at Pixar Animation Studios. Sarah currently sits on the Board of Trustees as Treasurer of the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. Sarah's strong financial background will help to ensure effective day-to-day management of our finances as well as lay the foundation for our long term sustainability plans.
Anna Bryson - Member-at-LargeAnna is a successful corporate executive with experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and hundreds of people. Anna is currently the President of the Board of Trustees in the Capistrano Unified School District which is the 10th largest district in the State of California. Anna also brings a strong financial background to the Board through her current role as the Director of Program Services/Executive Assistant for the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector and her past experience as the Assistant Treasurer for the Republican Party of Orange County and the Chairman of Budget and Expenditures for the California Republican Party. Anna has been active in the community for many years including involvement with the Assistance League, Beta Foster Care, Beverly Sills Guild of the Orange County Center for the Performing Arts, Hospice Care, and the American Heart Association. Anna served for 8 years on the board of Catholic Charities in Orange County and currently serves on the Advisory Board of John Paul the Great University in San Diego. Anna is committed to leverage her prominent role in the education community as well as the Republican Party to create opportunities for us to share our vision with her network.
Ryan Burris - Member-at-Large Ryan joined the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 2003, serving as a speech writer to the Sheriff. In 2007 he was promoted to Deputy Director of Public and Community Relations, serving as a department spokesperson and executive assistant in the Office of the Sheriff. In June 2008, upon the appointment of Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, Ryan was named Assistant to the Sheriff. Ryan has managed the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s office as well as long-term strategic planning on behalf of the Sheriff. In the fall of 2009, Ryan was promoted to Manager of Government Relations – a newly formed function of the Public Affairs Division of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Ryan continues to serve as a public information officer while he works to build, strengthen and maintain working relationships with elected officials and government offices to ensure that the department is responsive to the law enforcement needs of every resident and business in Orange County.
Cindy Smith - Member-at-Large Cindy Smith joined Orange County Wraparound as a Parent Partner in 2007 and was promoted to Parent Partner Trainer in 2009. Wraparound helps children who are at risk of being displaced from their home, to stay in their home using a positive, strength based, collaborative team effort and community support, helping “at risk children.” As the Parent Partner Trainer, Cindy executes, coordinates, and educates the 60 Parent Partners in Wraparound, as well as, collects data about the program and trainings. In 2002, Cindy, became a certified Doula, while residing in Arizona, and continues to serve in Southern California. While in California, Cindy, joined, “Enjoy Birth” becoming trained in “Hypnobabies” and specializing in mom’s who were sexually abused. She is passionate about giving couples the tools they need in making educated choices about the birth of their child, while providing comfort measures, advocacy and education. Robyn Seymour - Member-at-Large While Robyn puts a priority on making people feel comfortable and excited about the real estate process, she also brings a wealth of experience to the table. She’s been in the Southern California Real Estate business for more than 20 years and is passionate about staying educated on the latest industry trends, laws and innovations. In addition, she also has put together a support team of dedicated professionals to ensure every aspect of your move is handled efficiently and to provide you with increased responsiveness. Robyn has a passion for getting more out of life each and every day which includes volunteering for local charities. |
